Summer 2017 is in full swing! I’m definitely in the highest spirits this time of year and plan on making the most of the long sunny days and hot weather. Some people like to use this time to travel, but I actually love staying local and exploring my favorite places and events in and around the city. Here are a few of my can’t miss stops for summer!
Hit the Beach and Boardwalk on Coney Island
I love this area for beach, boardwalk, and amazing street art thanks to the Coney Island Art Walls. Plus the ice cream and funnel cake on the boardwalk are not to be missed
Sail Over to Governor’s Island
Even though it’s just a short, breezy ferry ride away, Governor’s Island has a relaxing, far off vibe that makes me feel disconnected from city life. A day there is far more relaxing than Central Park, and there is almost always an event you can check out. Some of my favorites are Pinknic and the Jazz Age Lawn Party.
Post Beach Party at Tacoway Beach
Rockaway Beach is awesome, but the highlight for me is Tacoway Beach. Just a few blocks off the beach you’ll find this amazing open air summer lounge, with the yummiest fish tacos and margaritas. If you want to keep the beach party vibe going but are ready to get off the sand, this is the place to be.
I’m also really excited about a few upcoming events and festivals! This is what is on my calendar if you want to try to bump into me! And let me know about some of your favorite ways to spend summer in your city!
New England Balloon Festival July 7-8
Curlfest July 15th
Tiki Disco almost every weekend
PS1 Warm-Up every weekend
