You may have caught this on my Instastory yesterday, but my bags are all packed for my upcoming trip to Hawaii! I’m so excited about this trip, but this is the longest flight I’ve been on since my South Africa vacation last year. I’ll be in the air for about 12 hours, so wanted to share my in-flight essentials. If you are wondering how to survive a long flight in economy class, this is how I do it!
Noise-cancelling headphones will be your hero
I never travel without my Frends Taylor headphones. Even when I’m not listening to anything, they drown out the background noise and help me feel more relaxed. Plus they are so stylish they instantly elevate your travel look. These babies actually got me featured in the NY Times Style Section!
Load-up on masks, serums and potions
On a long flight I love to break out my Sephora sleeping masks. These tiny pods pack a punch and they dry clear so you don’t have to worry about scaring anyone like you would with a traditional sheet mask. Leave it on for a few hours then rinse or wipe off with micellar wipes for a natural glow.
Inflatable Pillows keep you comfy without making you look ridiculous
It’s impossible to look chic while carrying a giant noodle shaped pillow. I have 2 inflatable ones – one for neck and one for lower back support. They fold up tiny, can be blown up on flight and deflated upon landing. Plus I love being able to control how much support, depending on how much I inflate them.
Stock up on good reads that won't weigh down your bags
I save a ton of long articles for offline reading, and download a good book on an offline reading app. There is no doubt in my mind I will sleep half this flight, but I like to have entertainment options in case the in-flight movie selection is not up to par.
A cozy sweater or blanket scarf
Airplanes are notoriously chilly. Bring something cozy in a luxurious feeling fabric to keep you warm and toasty.
I suffer from motion sickenss and always get a little quesy when the plane starts descending. This inhaler stick is supposed to be for sinus issues, but the all natural blend of menthol, peppermint and eucalyptus oils helps me manage the side effects of motion sickness as well. And it’s all natural so much safer than relying on pills.
