Spring is in the air! I was majorly depressed when I came back from Cartagena to cold, rainy New York. However the weather has gotten so much warmer in the past few days, and it's finally getting me excited about the change of the season. Spring in New York is so much fun. Everyone starts to come out of their winter hibernation, rooftops and gardens start to open, and all the open spaces beckon for you to hang out and enjoy the sun. Here are some of my can't miss activities this season!
Cherry Blossom Heaven at Brooklyn Botanical Garden
While most people are obsessed with the Sakura Matsuri festival that happens April 29th-30th, I avoid that weekend like the plague. The crowds and lines make the experience completely exhausting. If you want to check out the gorgeous pink blooms in all their glory, go any other time that week when the experience will be far more enjoyable.
Tribeca Film Festival April 19th-April 30th
If you're a movie buff you can't miss Tribeca. Splurge on tickets to the buzzy premieres, or go the budget friendly route and hit up the $10 matinees.
Frieze Art Fair May 5th-May 7th
You guys know I'm an art lover. The Frieze Art Fair takes over Randall's Island, with over 100 galleries exhibiting. The work plus amazing views of the city skyline are not to be missed.
Smorgasbord April 8th-October
The weekend foodie fair opens in April and runs all summer! In the spirit of maintaining my diet and not wasting my workouts, I've been avoiding events that require me to eat and drink all day. But I will make an exception at least once for Smorgasbord.
